Communicating, Influencing and Leading: Reflecting to Transform Professional Practice

Some competencies cannot be developed through technical expertise alone.

Communication, leadership, influence, and the way each professional contributes to team dynamics are clear examples of this.

These were the themes that SFgo had the privilege of exploring in partnership with the Portuguese Association of Radiology, Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine Technologists (ATARP), creating an opportunity for reflection and knowledge sharing around the challenges healthcare teams face every day.

Rather than simply presenting concepts, our goal was to create a space where participants could question established practices, analyse behaviours, and reflect on how small changes in communication and collaboration can ultimately enhance teamwork and improve the quality of care delivered.

To achieve this, we adopted active learning methodologies that placed participants at the centre of the learning experience. Through group dynamics, experiential activities, simulations, interactive digital tools, and discussions based on real-world professional situations, we encouraged participation, experimentation, and the collective construction of knowledge.

At Academia SFgo, we believe that learning is about far more than acquiring new knowledge.

It is about creating opportunities to look at reality from different perspectives, challenge assumptions, and inspire changes that can be transferred into everyday professional practice.

Because, more often than not, meaningful transformation begins with a moment of reflection.

We would like to thank ATARP for placing its trust in our team and all participants for their openness, engagement, and the valuable contributions that made this experience so enriching.
